2016: A Year In Pictures

18 January, 2016

I'm beginning to think instead of picking the world Selfish for 2016, I should have gone with vulnerable. Because that is what the last two and a half weeks have been and it's been crazy.

When I decided to do my self portrait project, I had some pretty specific reasons for doing it. I've mentioned before that I'm, for whatever reason, freakishly comfortable in front of my own camera. I wanted to use that to my advantage and take the opportunity to photograph myself in a way people I don't see myself. I wanted to be able look at photographs of myself and look at them the same way I look at photographs of other people-that they are a beautiful reflection of a time in that persons life, flaws and all.

I thought I'd share an update every couple of weeks of how the project is going and share some of my favorite photographs. So far things have been great. I've created some photographs I am really proud of and can truly say I love. Three and Five are my absolute favorites so far. It's an odd feeling to look at a photograph and know that it is you, but not really feel like it is you.
