Weekly Workout {Week 20}

Whoops.....forgot to his SCHEDULE so you get a bonus workout recap this week!

Ever since starting CrossFit, double-unders have been the bane of my and a lot of other folks existence. It seems like it should be a relatively simple concept. I mean, if you can jump rope, you should be able to do a double-under: the rope passes under your feet twice when you jump. But, they aren’t that simple. I can get the jump, I just can’t get my head to realize that jumping up and flipping the rope under your feet twice (using your wrists to whip the rope around) are not mutually exclusive.
But the worst part about double-unders is that when they are included in the WOD and you can’t do them, you will end the workout with a pair of calves that HATE YOU.  For example, Monday’s WOD looked a little something like this:

METCON
4 Rounds for Time
50 x Double-Unders
15 x Kettlebell Swings 35#
50 x Double-Unders
5 x Powercleans

Awesome if you can do double-unders! But for those of us who cannot do double-unders, our WOD looked like this:

METCON
4 Rounds for Time
150 x Double Unders
15 x Kettlebell Swings 35#
150 x Double Unders
5 x Powercleans 55#

This is 2400….TWO THOUSAND, FOUR HUNDRED single jump ropes.

At first, I was able to knock out sets of 50 unbroken jump ropes. But by the end, I lost track of how many times I needed to take a bit of a break because my calves kept cramping. It was awful. The worst of it, by far, though was Thanksgiving morning. I ended up wearing my Pro Compression socks all day to help ease some of the discomfort. I have no idea if they actually helped, but they are super cute so sometimes that is all that matters.

Monday: CrossFit
Tuesday: CrossFit
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Happy Thanksgiving!
Friday: CrossFit
Saturday: Walk with Bandit
Sunday: Hike in the woods
