Weekly Workout {Week 9}

This was a weird week for workouts.

I typically take Monday's off because after 2 day of HIIT in a row, my body needs a break. But because of the long weekend, I decided to be avoid being lazy on Monday and did a quick HIIT workout. Bad idea. Working out hard for 5 days in a row was a bit much for me. I felt awful on Thursday: sore muscles, couldn't get comfortable no matter how hard I tried, just a general feeling of "blech".

BUT.

This week wasn't all bad.

Monday's WOD at the Box was Karen (i.e. 150 wallball shots) and then pick your own strength and skill to work on. Tuesday's WOD at the box pretty technical, so our coach decided that Sarah (my CrossFit buddy) and I should do Monday's WOD/plan instead.

Let's be honest. Wall balls are not fun. Doing 150 of them for time is like death. But it is also one of those workouts where you feel like you've really accomplished something.

After we finished the wall balls from hell it was onto the strength component. Since we were able to pick what we wanted to do (we could pick anything as long as we didn't have a 1 rep max on file), I immediately jumped at the chance to do deadlifts, which are my favorites! Because all my muscles live in my legs (working on the upper body strength, which is coming along slowly but surely) and deadlifts are leg heavy, they are a lot of fun to do!

Working on a 1 rep max, we started with a set of 10 at 90lbs and worked from there. Each round, Trevor (coach extraordinaire!) added been 20 and 30 lbs depending on how the set beforehand felt. Sarah and I went back and forth until we reached our 1 rep max. I topped out at 225lbs, Sarah 235lb.

It. Was. Awesome.

Monday: 1 mile walk with Bandit + HIIT
Tuesday: CrossFit + Deadlift PR!!
Wednesday: CrossFit
Thursday: Off
Friday: Off
Saturday: 2 mile walk with Bandit
Sunday: 2 miles walk with Bandit + HIIT
