Monday Mileage

Happy Boston Marathon Monday!

I will be watching the coverage from the comfort of my couch. I have an appointment with McDreamy first thing this morning (hopefully the final appointment for my foot and achillies issues!), but am looking forward to a full on rest day while I watch the race coverage.

This week I started reading Meb Keflezighi's new book Meb for Mortals: How to Run, Think and Eat Like a Champion. I'm not super far into the book (vacation, lack of an attention span), but so far it's been one of the most accessible books on running that I've picked up. I plan on writing an actual review once I finish reading it, but I will say it has been nice reading a book by an elite athlete that I can actually relate to.

I'm still working on getting myself on a schedule but I think I've sorted it out. As I mentioned last week, I spent some times putting together a training journal/log. My plan is to use them so that I can write things out for the week so I don't have to think about it when it comes time to the workouts. The plan is to run four times a week and strength train two times a week (one day focus on arms, the second on legs).  For now, I think it'll be a good balance and allow me to get "everything in" and will get me back into strength training, which I have been missing something fierce over the last month.

Monday: 2.2 mile run
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Off
Friday: 3.3 mile run
Saturday: 1.75 mile walk
Sunday: 2.4 mile run, 1 mile walk

Weekly Totals: 10.65 miles (7.9 miles running,  2.75 miles walking)
