Monday Mileage: Gettin' Back on Track

13 April, 2015

Consistency isn't something that comes easily to me.

But that's exactly what I need to work on this next week.

Now that I have weekends off, it's easy to put off workouts until Saturday and Sunday. That means, technically, I only need to factor in one other workout during the week. Taking 4 days off in a row, however, is not a great idea.

And now that I'm not working with a trainer, I need to also work in some strength training. I'm beginning to think I need to start working on an actual schedule and penciling workouts in. In fact, I spent a ridiculous amount of time this weekend creating a training log I can use to "schedule" and plan my workouts. We shall see if I even use it.

Moving on......

Even though it was less than ideal, my runs this week were all pretty great. I am LOVING that I can run outside and don't feel like I've lost any "momentum" now that I'm not running exclusively on the treadmill. There are still some walk breaks, but they are short and typically involve a hill or two. But I'm learning to work through the pain of running UP them and enjoying the break they give my legs when I run down them.

The other thing I need to sort out is my wardrobe! The bottoms are good to go. I adore the compression capris I have from Old Navy. They don't fall down (when I'm wearing the correct size of course), they help hold everything in place and they look good! But from the waist up, I'm a hot mess. Literally. All my runs start with me being too cold, but by the end I'm ready to strip everything off. I'm currently wearing my Mountain Hard Wear Microchill jacket for my morning runs, usually with the Butter Zippity underneath, but it's too much. I always end up way too hot and can't WAIT to get out of my clothes. No one ever said looking good was going to be easy, did they.

The numbers.....

Monday: 3.05 mile run, 0.85 mile walk
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: Off
Friday: Off
Saturday: 3.1 mile run, 1.25 mile walk
Sunday: 3.55 mile run

Weekly Totals:  11.80 miles ( 9.7 miles miles running, 2.1 miles walking)
