Race with Me

11 February, 2015

I don't know why, but running my first race feels like a right of passage into being able to call myself a "runner".

Ridiculous, I know. If you run, you're a runner. No other qualifier needed.

But a to run a race! Haha!

That's like saying, "Hey world! Look at me! I'm really doing this! IN PUBLIC."

Last week, my friend Micah posted about her next race, a virtual race for February. I was intrigued. I've seen other bloggers post about them as well, but had never moved beyond, "Huh.....that could be interesting" and then it was on to the next post in my Bloglovin' feed.

After reading her post I hopped on over to US Road Running to find out more about this virtual race.

It's a pretty slick concept. You sign up, pick your distance, run your little heart out and they send you a medal! You pick the date and time, location and don't have to worry about making a fool of yourself when busting your favorite dance moves when Uptown Funk hits the playlist.

That is MY kind of race.

And will be my first (and second) race that I run!

I signed myself up for two races through US Road Running and I am VERY excited.

The first race I signed up for is a regular 'ole 5k. I plan to run it this weekend while I am in Canada for a business trip. Because how cool is it to say, "Yeah, I've run internationally".

The second is also a 5k but it is the Pirate 5k because obviously, pirates!

I am super excited about running these races and think they'll be a great way to help build my running confidence.

Have you ever run a virtual race before?
